Paneer Tikka Masala
Cubes of golden paneer simmered in a velvety spiced tomato-cream sauce with warming garam masala. Rich, comforting, and made for scooping with warm naan.
Ingredients
Serves 4- 12 oz paneer
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tbsp ginger
- 3 clove garlic
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp butter
Optional
- 2 tbsp fresh cilantro
Instructions
- 1
Cut the paneer into cubes and toss with yogurt and half the garam masala, then sear in a hot pan until golden and set aside.
- 2
Melt the butter in the same pan and saute the finely diced onion until soft and golden, about 8 minutes.
- 3
Stir in the grated ginger, minced garlic, remaining garam masala, and turmeric, cooking for 1 minute.
- 4
Pour in the crushed tomatoes and simmer for 12 minutes until thickened and deepened in color.
- 5
Blend the sauce smooth if desired, then stir in the cream and return the seared paneer.
- 6
Simmer gently for 5 minutes so the paneer soaks up the sauce, seasoning with salt to taste.
- 7
Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with rice or naan.
